I’m a MASSIVE advocate of leading with value in your work, your content is such an important part of all you do and the word content actually probably doesn’t even do it justice. So, what am I actually talking about?

Content is ;

✔️ everything you write in your business

✔️ the imagery that you produce in your business

✔️ the social media post/tweets etc you write

✔️ the pages on your website

✔️ your free resources

✔️ your blogs/articles

✔️ the videos you record

✔️ the memes (you know the ones – the images with the writing on them)

They are all essentially business assets and they are all things that you can be reused and recycled.  Content is an asset to your business because it’s something that can keep on providing service to your crowd.

SELF TALK FAIRY CHURPS UP
– but you’re no written, who do you think you are, you can’t write for toffee, people are going to pull apart your SPAG (spelling, punctation and grammar if you’re not down with the kids!!) Now, now, little fairy, that’s a little bit mean.  Everyone has a voice (it’s that talk that happens in your head or comes out of your mouth) and everyone can write about their passion.  I’ve tackled the issues of worrying about your spelling and your voice here >>click to read more<<

Let’s Look At How To Unblock The Content Constipation

Stop Overthinking It

you don’t need to have a certain number of words and one subject will usually turn out to be a gazillion different pieces of content.  I was talking to one of my Rockstars this week and she had an idea for a blog, she told me that she had fixated on the topic and that she really wanted to write about it but it felt so massive.  When we examined the topic it was in fact one of her zones of genius (those things that light you up, you know about, the subject comes with ease and you could talk about it all day long.  The reality was that this was keeping her stuck.  The subject was enormous and she simply didn’t know where to start.  We started by breaking the subject down into lots of little mini subjects that she could talk about and bam, away she went.   Check in with yourself that you aren’t making the subject enormous and therefore overwhelming yourself with the idea of creating content for it.

Work To Your Strengths

don’t try to do stuff that simply doesn’t work for you.  I know that it’s tempting to try to follow the tried and tested strategy when it comes to content creation – with the promise that this formula will set you free or if you take these 3 steps you will make a gazillion pounds.  If it doesn’t suit you then it’s not for you.  I find that lots of my Rockstars are desperately trying to wedge themselves into a content creation strategy that simply isn’t for them and then beat themselves up when it doesn’t work – well obviously, that makes them a fail – right?! I’ve seen it in all sorts of areas – this is a fabulous example, lots of people were talking about the book Miracle Morning and how loads of people were diving in and embracing the concepts.  I got a message from a Rockstars that said something along the lines of – well, I’ve even failed at Miracle Morning, I’m so tired, I feel shit and I can’t even make that work.  Stop it with the full on self assault, this stuff isn’t for everyone! You can either pick up the bits that work for you and leave the rest happily resting in the book OR you can find your own bespoke routine that works for you.  One size DOES NOT fit all and it’s about working out what will work for you 🙂

Get Ahead

whilst this sounds like one that’s many moons away and you work in such a reactionary fashion right now I promise you can soon get the the holy grail of being a little bit ahead with things.  As I write this blog I have 52 blogs in draft on my website (yup, they are at various stages of edit but they are there), I also have 3 partially written newsletters and numerous draft Social Media posts.  This allows me a little safety blanket of knowledge that if I’m not feeling all that creative on any given day/week then I can jump in and use the stuff I already have in the bag.

It Doesn’t Always Have To Be New

don’t forget to re-use and recycle the content you already have.  Very few pieces of content are a one trick pony.

Capture The Ideas

grab a brew, work out the topics that you can cover in your business and then brainstorm the types of blogs that you can write around each topic, this will mean you always have a stash of ideas that will get those creative juices flowing and allow you to start writing again.

Remember, We All Only Have So Many Topics

everyone has a limited number of topics within their expertise but has a gazillion different ways of addressing those topics and bringing new slants and angles to the conversation.

You content is there to serve the pants off your crowd 😉
